DESCRIPTION: We are a biotechnology-based innovation ecosystem that combines nature-based and engineering solutions to remove carbon from the atmosphere using innovative technologies to combat climate change. Our mission is to decarbonize the world. We want to remove 10,000,000 tons of CO2e from the atmosphere by 2040.
BUSINESS MODEL: i) Operation and maintenance of the trees, with fees charged based on the volume of air treated; ii) Green marketing, where advertising space on the trees promotes the sponsoring brand, showcasing a tangible action for decarbonization and atmospheric air treatment; iii) Commercialization of the biomass produced as an additive for ruminant feed; and iv) Commercialization of the carbon credits generated.
Case
In 2024, we shifted our focus: instead of trading carbon credits, we chose carbon removal. We created Greenway Trees — microalgae “trees” that capture CO₂ by photosynthesis; the biomass becomes a feed additive for ruminants, cutting methane emissions. In May 2025, we visited Spain, Portugal, and the Netherlands; in Porto, we signed an MoU with KOD BIO to develop the trees in Portugal and bring their solution to Brazil. Back home, we won a startup reality (R$500k) and raised over R$1M in grants to build the first units.
